Private Sanctuary has been active on Lombok since 2010, a time when there were hardly any asphalt roads, and trips that take 20 minutes today took 2 hours. In fact, many of the bays on the Lombok Riviera were not accessible at all by car, only boat, foot or dirt bike.

The first Private Sanctuary investment project was in the Jabon Hills and today boasts some of the premiere villas in the Selong Belanak area. From there Private Sanctuary has expanded to develop projects throughout Indonesia, mainly on Lombok, with a focus on the Lombok Riviera. The Indonesian Government with support of other countries and international banks is planning to invest a total of US$ 3 Billion on the South of Lombok, of which at least a third has already been implemented, allowing Private Sanctuary investors to ride this wave of development.

In addition to having 500 hectares to expand the international airport, which will be the new hub for Central Indonesia, with Bali being unable to expand further, major infrastructure projects for mass tourism have been developed. Whilst there is a focus on the Mandalika Government Tourism Project development Area, with a new highway from the airport, MotoGP race course, 27 hole Tiger Woods designed golf course and plenty of international Hotel Chains, the infrastructure investments are encompassing all bays in Central South Lombok. It is known as the golden triangle and reaches from the airport to the Mandalika on the East and Selong Belanak Bay on the West, an area also known as the Lombok Riviera.

Whilst land prices are still a fraction of comparable land in Bali, rentals are at around 80% of Bali prices with much higher occupancy.
