Daniel Paetzold at Private Sanctuary designed and supervised the construction of this customized villa.
A semi-permanent home the villa is designed as a comfortable space for live work activities during extensive stays by their owners. The configuration of space follows a brief that asked for a convenient daily routine in a large house with a sense of social communication.
The villa offers 350sqm of living space grouped around a cascading main lounge that forms the main area of social interaction and entertainment. For multidisciplinary training of a non-compromising sportsman, a 25m lap pool and a gym are provided.
The center area of the villa is the lounge that combines dining and a seating area overlooking Kuta Bay through a generously glazed facade that is also supporting the possible natural ventilation received through a constant breeze.
Full-width sliding doors offer seamless access to the wonderful pool deck with its sweeping ocean views. A sandstone floor and wall finish contribute to a calm and subtle feeling of solidity in the stepped cascading landscape of the lounge.
This experience is combined with carefully chosen timber in rich color tones to deliberately providing a sense of furnishing. Soft cushioning and continuous large padded reclining benches provide for a comfortable and cozy relaxation area in the center of the lounge.
An open-plan island kitchen doubling up as a breakfast bar invites for culinary activities with immediate access onto the alfresco dining terrace. Oriented towards the east, this is a wonderful area to start the day in the mild morning breeze and enjoy a shaded outdoor area throughout the day.
The external areas are considered a continuation of this space flow and received a similar polished soft sandstone, inviting for indoor to outdoor movements blurring demarcation lines.
A facade system covering the main view from the lounge over Kuta was tailormade to provide protection against heat with functional openings that can be adjusted to respond to indoor climate preferences.
All three bedrooms are based on different levels and offer sweeping views over Kuta Bay. Each room has an en-suite bathroom and terrace.
The bedrooms are in close proximity to the lounge, the centerpiece of the villa. The flooring and furnishing of bedrooms are in warm and soft timber tones for a sense of calm in a carefully crafted cozy environment.
Bathrooms with an uncompromising application of ceramic or polished terrazzo stone give a feel of refreshing cool cleanliness with a positive soft haptic experience of stone materiality.
